Bicycle Nomad Erick Cedeño Portrait in Large Format 4x5
When Erick Cedeño, the Bicycle Nomad, visited New York City for the Explorers Club Dinner, I had the opportunity to capture his portrait in large format 4x5. Our connection goes back to a memorable three-day hike organized by Fjällräven in Colorado, where we first met. We hit it off right away, sharing stories and discussing future creative collaborations. At that time, we spoke about doing a shoot whenever he was in NYC, and when the moment finally came, we made it happen.
For this shoot, I wanted to experiment with my 4x5 camera, creating portraits that would not only highlight Erick's unique character but also fit his model and influencer portfolio. The process was intentional and slower, but it felt fitting for someone whose journey embodies patience and adventure. Erick’s story is as remarkable as his presence: a Panama native, he’s been riding across America’s old railroads, telling the tale of his travels and the stories of the communities he encounters along the way.
The shoot was an opportunity to capture the essence of Erick—his passion for storytelling, his adventurous spirit, and the connection we’ve built since our hike in Colorado. The large-format portraits are not only a representation of his physical presence but also a nod to the journey he’s been on. I’m excited to have had the chance to work with Erick and look forward to seeing where his incredible journey takes him next.
