Hospital, Clinical & Healthcare Brand Visual Storytelling by Andres Hernandez

In today’s healthcare landscape, visual storytelling plays a critical role in building trust, communicating expertise, and humanizing patient care. I collaborate with hospitals, private clinics, healthcare brands, publishers, and research institutions worldwide to create refined, authentic imagery that elevates brand credibility while respecting the sensitivity of clinical environments.

In addition to commercial and institutional work, I have extensive experience working inside active hospitals and private medical facilities, as well as traveling internationally with nonprofit medical teams to document surgical missions and clinical care for low-income patients across Latin America. These assignments require cultural sensitivity, discretion, adaptability, and deep respect for patient dignity. This global perspective informs every project, whether photographing a major hospital system, a private specialty clinic, or documenting life-changing care in underserved communities abroad.

From physician portraits and patient stories to large-scale healthcare campaigns and editorial assignments, my approach blends cinematic lighting, thoughtful composition, and seamless production management. Every project is executed with professionalism and a HIPAA-aware workflow to ensure privacy, compliance, efficiency, and ethical storytelling on location.

Elsevier

ClinicalPath Oncology Visual Library

For Elsevier, we created a comprehensive photographic library that visualizes the patient journey in cancer care to support the ClinicalPath platform an evidence-based oncology decision support and analytics tool. ClinicalPath helps clinicians deliver consistent, informed treatment decisions for cancer patients by integrating evidence-based oncology pathways directly into clinical workflows and guiding precision medicine strategies.

Our work involved capturing a diverse range of clinical and patient-centered moments from diagnostic consultations and treatment planning to care interactions and supportive experiences — that reflect the human and clinical dimensions of the cancer care continuum. These images were designed to be used across Elsevier’s educational initiatives, digital platforms, whitepapers, and resource centers to visually reinforce the story of patient care, decision support, and multidisciplinary coordination within oncology practice.

The resulting imagery library has been integrated into Elsevier’s educational and resource materials including the ClinicalPath product pages and precision oncology resources providing relatable, high-quality visuals that help clinicians, administrators, educators, and patients better connect with the evidence-based tools and information presented.

Boehringer Ingelheim

“Cuida Tu Don” National Awareness Campaign

We were part of the production team for Boehringer Ingelheim Pharmaceuticals’ national public awareness campaign “Cuida Tu Don” (Take Care of Your Gift), created to engage, educate, and inspire Latino communities living with type 2 diabetes. The initiative featured legendary entertainer Mario Kreutzberger, known worldwide as Don Francisco, who serves as the campaign ambassador, sharing his own experience with type 2 diabetes while encouraging healthier lifestyle choices centered around nutrition, fitness, and treatment awareness.

Working alongside the television production crew, We were responsible for capturing all print photography for the campaign, creating a visual library used across marketing, educational materials, digital platforms, and community outreach initiatives. The photography focused on authentic human moments, expressive portraits, and lifestyle storytelling that aligned with the campaign’s mission of empowerment, accessibility, and cultural relevance.

The campaign content included webisodes, interviews, educational resources, and expert guidance from healthcare professionals, designed to help individuals and families better understand disease management while reinforcing the message that living with type 2 diabetes does not prevent a full and active life. The imagery supported multi-channel distribution across web platforms, partner healthcare organizations, and community engagement programs in major U.S. markets.

This project reflects our experience collaborating within large-scale healthcare productions, integrating seamlessly with broadcast crews, and delivering high-quality medical and lifestyle photography that supports national health initiatives and culturally impactful storytelling.

CarePlus Campaign

Senior Healthcare Campaign Production

This campaign for CarePlus Health Plans was produced on an accelerated timeline and required full-scale creative and production execution from concept to delivery. Shot on location in Florida, the project involved sourcing talent, securing locations, coordinating logistics, and managing all on-site production under a tight schedule.

Partnering closely with the client and their advertising agency, we collaborated on the development of creative concepts and visual scenarios that authentically represented the daily lives, healthcare needs, and active lifestyles of adults 70 years and older. Each scene was carefully designed to communicate accessibility, dignity, independence, and trust while maintaining a warm, approachable brand tone.

The objective was to build a versatile photographic library that could support CarePlus’ marketing initiatives across a wide range of channels, including print advertising, brochures, direct mail, digital platforms, and collateral materials. The final imagery delivers a consistent visual system that allows the brand and agency to deploy assets across multiple campaigns and seasonal initiatives.

This project reflects my ability to execute fast-moving healthcare productions, collaborate seamlessly with agencies on concept development, and deliver scalable visual assets that support long-term marketing strategies in regulated healthcare environments.

The Healing Hands Foundation

Medical Humanitarian Documentary Project

Since 2014, I have traveled throughout Central and South America alongside The Healing Hands Foundation and a dedicated team of doctors, surgeons, and medical personnel to document humanitarian medical missions serving underserved and remote communities. These long-term projects focus on providing free surgical care and medical treatment to individuals who otherwise would not have access to specialized healthcare.

My role has been to create powerful photographic and video documentation that captures the full scope of each mission, from patient intake and clinical procedures to recovery, community interaction, and the human connections formed between medical teams and local families. The visual content supports the foundation’s fundraising efforts, donor engagement, educational outreach, and long-term storytelling initiatives.

Many of these assignments take place in isolated towns with limited infrastructure, requiring adaptability, cultural sensitivity, and a documentary approach rooted in trust and respect for patient dignity. Over the years, this ongoing work has helped support medical care for hundreds of patients, amplifying the foundation’s ability to raise awareness, expand resources, and continue delivering life-changing treatment across the region.

In addition to documentary coverage, I created a series of environmental portraits of the physicians and medical teams, honoring their dedication, resilience, and humanitarian spirit. Collectively, this body of work represents a comprehensive visual archive of the medical missions, the communities served, and the transformational impact of accessible healthcare.

This project remains one of the most meaningful collaborations of my career, and I am deeply proud to contribute my storytelling skills to a mission rooted in service, compassion, and global health equity.

Lampert Md Plastic Surgery

Physician Branding & Clinical Portraits

This project focused on creating a refined visual identity for Joshua A. Lampert, MD, an aesthetic and reconstructive plastic surgeon based in Miami, Florida, specializing in surgery of the face, nose, breast, and body. The objective was to develop a cohesive photographic library that communicates clinical excellence, artistic precision, and an elevated patient experience.

The imagery was designed to support Dr. Lampert’s brand positioning as a surgeon who blends technical mastery with aesthetic sensitivity. Through a combination of modern physician portraits, environmental imagery, and lifestyle-driven visuals, the photographs convey approachability, confidence, and attention to detail while maintaining a clean, contemporary aesthetic aligned with a high-end medical practice.

The final image library has been deployed across Dr. Lampert’s website, digital marketing channels, patient education materials, and brand collateral, helping establish a consistent and polished visual presence. This project reflects my experience crafting physician branding imagery that balances professionalism with warmth, while supporting patient trust and long-term brand growth in competitive healthcare markets.

The Volen Center

Community Healthcare & Senior Lifestyle Campaign

This project focused on developing a comprehensive visual campaign for The Volen Center, a community-based senior center serving residents from Broward to Palm Beach County in South Florida. The goal was to authentically capture the spirit of the organization as a welcoming, inclusive place that supports the physical, emotional, social, and psychological well-being of older adults.

We produced a full-scale photo production to visually communicate what makes The Volen Center a vital community hub. The imagery highlights daily programming, social engagement, wellness activities, educational initiatives, and the meaningful human connections that define the center’s mission of advocacy, care, and lifelong enrichment for seniors.

From concept development through execution, the production was designed to create a versatile and cohesive image library that reflects warmth, accessibility, diversity, and dignity. The photographs were crafted to resonate with seniors, families, donors, and community partners while maintaining a clear, consistent brand voice.

All final imagery has been integrated across The Volen Center’s full range of marketing needs, including website content, brochures, fundraising materials, digital campaigns, and community outreach collateral. This project reflects my experience producing healthcare and community-focused campaigns that translate organizational values into authentic, emotionally engaging visual storytelling.
