I’ve always found inspiration in art, film, and music. I’ve listened to Philip Glass’s compositions performed by the incredible pianist Maki Namekawa for years. Last year, I finally had the chance to see her live in NYC, playing a mesmerizing double piano recital with her husband, Dennis Russell Davies—and it completely blew me away.
Having Maki in the studio for a portrait session was an absolute privilege. Not only is she a phenomenal artist, but her warmth, humility, and effortless presence made the experience even more special. I am grateful for the opportunity to capture her essence through my lens.

Our vision was to create clean, elegant, and sensual imagery—refined yet intimate, with a timeless feel. We worked primarily with soft, natural light to bring out a quiet confidence and a sense of closeness in every frame. Gabriela’s poise and presence made it effortless to capture the subtle tension between strength and softness. With minimal styling and a stripped-down set, we let her energy take center stage—an approach that perfectly reflects my style as a photographer. Shoots like this are a reminder of why I love creating imagery that feels honest, elevated, and emotionally resonant.
